Job Title: General Operative / Counterbalance Forklift Driver

Location: Sudbury DE6

Employment Type: Ongoing

Pay Rate: £13.25 per hour

Working Hours:

• Monday - Thursday: 08:00 - 17:00
• Friday: 08:00 - 16:30

Job Purpose

To support the efficient operation of the warehouse by ensuring scaffolding equipment is safely stored, maintained, and prepared for delivery or collection. This role involves manual handling, stock control, forklift operation, and close collaboration with Welders and site teams to meet project deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Forklift Operation: Safely operate a counterbalance forklift to load, unload, and move scaffolding materials within the warehouse and yard.
• Loading and Unloading: Assist with manual handling of scaffolding materials from delivery vehicles using correct techniques.
• Stock Management: Count, record, and organise scaffolding components including tubes, boards, fittings, and accessories.
• Maintenance: Inspect and clean returned equipment, ensuring all items are in good working condition and reporting any damage or defects.
• Order Preparation: Pick and pack scaffolding orders accurately for dispatch to construction sites.
• Health & Safety: Follow all company health and safety procedures, including wearing PPE and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
• Inventory Checks: Assist with regular stock takes and audits to ensure accurate inventory records.
• Teamwork: Collaborate with drivers, site operatives, and office staff to ensure smooth operations and timely deliveries.
• General Duties: Perform other warehouse-related tasks as required, including sweeping, organising, and minor repairs.

Requirements

• Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence (essential)
• Previous experience in a warehouse or construction-related role (preferred)
• Physically fit and able to lift heavy items
• Good attention to detail and organisational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Own Transport due to location
