We are seeking an experience Housing Officer to join our team based in Cambridge.

£20.98 per hour (PAYE)

Temporary: ASAP start until 31st March 2026 (possible extensions)

Possibility for Hybrid with 1 day at home and the rest in the office

Please note: This is not a remote role. It can be hybrid but depends on service need, role is mainly out on site and current Housing Officers tend to be in the city at least 3-4 days a week and live close enough to be able to drive into the City if there is an emergency.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive tenancy services across a defined neighbourhood in line with legal and policy requirements.
  • Manage complex housing issues, customer complaints, and tenancy disputes through collaborative working with internal teams and external agencies.
  • Enforce tenancy conditions, particularly around antisocial behaviour, and initiate legal action when required.
  • Respond to emergencies, assist with void management, and provide cover across housing services as needed.
  • Promote access to welfare benefits, report suspected fraud, and manage service capacity, anticipating external impacts on housing provision.
  • Ensure service delivery meets organisational standards by monitoring performance date, managing budgets, complying with governance and safeguarding policies, and contributing to climate goals, emergency planning, and wider corporate initiatives.

Experience Required:

  • We require an experienced Housing Officer who will require minimal training.
  • We would prefer experience of using Orchard (MRI Enterprise).
  • This role will not have line management responsibilities but experience in leading a team will be beneficial support/offer advice and guidance to Assistant Housing Officers.
  • Experience of working in Tenancy Management or in a similar enforcement or community development role.
