Role Overview:The Linehaul Van Driver is responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transportation of goods between distribution centres, warehouses, and customer locations. This role requires a focus on safety, adherence to regulations, and exceptional time management skills to meet delivery schedules.Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Operate a van or light commercial vehicle to transport goods along designated linehaul routes.</li><li>Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper handling and securing of items to prevent damage.</li><li>Maintain accurate delivery logs and records using company systems and tools.</li><li>Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness.</li><li>Communicate effectively with dispatchers and report any delays, incidents, or mechanical issues promptly.</li><li>Provide excellent customer service when interacting with all customers (Internal/External)</li><li>Assist with route planning to optimize efficiency and meet delivery deadlines.</li></ul>Rates of pay:<ul><li>Standard - £15.65</li><li>Night rate (1900:0700) - £21.84</li></ul>Key Skills and Qualifications:<ul><li>Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.</li><li>Proven experience in commercial driving, preferably in a linehaul or logistics setting.</li><li>Familiarity with GPS and routing technology.</li><li>Strong organizational and time management skills.</li><li>Ability to lift and handle packages safely - Manual handling Skills</li><li>Knowledge of transportation safety standards and regulations.</li><li>Effective communication and problem-solving skills.</li></ul>Work Environment:<ul><li>Driving for extended periods across various road and weather conditions.</li><li>Regular interaction with warehouse staff</li><li>Split Shifts / Night work - 17:30-21:40 and 05:20-09:30 Overnight stop outs.</li></ul>Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):<ul><li>On-time delivery rate.</li><li>Compliance with safety and regulatory standards.</li><li>Customer satisfaction ratings.</li><li>Vehicle condition and maintenance adherence.</li></ul>Reports To:Linehaul Supervisor Blue Arrow is proud to be a Disability Confident Employer and is committed to helping find great work opportunities for great people.
