Working hours is on a shift pattern as below:week 1 06:30-14:30week 2 11:30-19:30The candidate must be able to drive, a works van will be issued but will remain on site.Pay rate £12.60 Per hourMonday to Friday work from 6.30 to 14.30.Temporary position until Friday 27th February 2026 Main Responsibilities: 1. The jobholder must ensure that council buildings are prepared, operational and all security arrangements in place for the arrival and departure of staff, Members and visitors2. The jobholder is to carry out all portering duties including checking of fire and alarm systems in all operational buildings and to assist in fire evacuations3. Monitoring of staff car parks including the checking of validity of staff passes4. To ensure all stocks and provisions are maintained throughout Council buildings5. Carry out basic maintenance duties using various light hand tools and carry out daily building checks and reporting them through CAFM system6. Carry out basic Maintenance activities such as weekly flushing of water outlets7. Meet and liaise with contractors and Engineers on site8. Prepare meeting rooms in readiness for meetings and functions, ensuring that equipment is in good working order9. Take part in out of hours ceremonial occasions at Chester Town Hall, Uniform will be provided10. About the roleAs a multi-drop Class 2 Driver together with a Driver's Mate you'll deliver orders to our customers premises in a courteous and efficient manner, ensuring safe delivery On Time and In Full.Shifts: Monday to Friday (occasional weekend working during peak periods - ie. Xmas/Major sporting events)You will be responsible for delivering products to customers premises within a geographical radius from the depot with assistance from a Driver's mate.Excellent customer service is essential to our business needs as the customer is at the heart of everything we do, every order should be delivered with care, in a friendly manner and on-time.A Typical Day:· Undertake vehicle inspection checks· ensure customer orders are secured and packaged correctly for delivery prior to departure· Liaise with your Driver's mate to provide a download of the running sheet and customer orders · Inform the customer of any order delays, stock shortages or problems· Assist with the unloading of customer orders from the vehicle to the customer premises· Collect empty kegs/pallets and returns - when back at Depot ensure they are handled and stored correctly within the Warehouse or yard. · Ensure health and safety procedures are adhered to · Complete all paperwork/EPOD tasks and any administration tasks Liaise with Transport Management re. vehicle issues/delays· Ensure full compliance with Tachograph legislationAbout youYou have a solid understanding of the local road network, ideally including at least 12 months of Class 2 driving however we will also consider those who have recently gained their Class 2 Licence. You hold a valid HGV driving licence and CPC licence, ensuring you're fully qualified. You're experienced in delivering excellent customer service and possess strong communication skills.
