HGV Mechanic

Class 1 Driver To ensure the speedy, efficient and accurate delivery of assembled product and invoices to the customer within the corporate guidelines. Key Accountabilities <ul><li>To maintain a safe a competent standard of driving, observing speed limits and other traffic signs and giving due regard to other road users.</li><li>To have a daily check to ensure that your vehicle is in a roadworthy condition including a check of the lights, brakes, coolant, etc.</li><li>To report any faults, breakdowns, accidents or delays.</li><li>To maintain the internal and external condition of the vehicle together with the cleanliness of the vehicle.</li><li>To ensure sufficient quantities of fuel have been taken for the day's work.</li><li>To always maintain the security of the vehicle and its contents.</li><li>To check all orders shown on the drop sheets and ensure all orders are loaded on the vehicle.</li><li>To collect goods returned for credit, mail, delivery bins and their safe return to the branch at times instructed by the branch management.</li><li>Ensure damages/breakages are dealt with promptly and correctly with due regard to special procedures for Hazchem's.</li><li>To always maintain a smart appearance.</li><li>To help maintain good customer relations.</li><li>To be involved in other duties including warehouse tasks as defined by the Management.</li><li>Meet all Health &amp; Safety requirements.</li><li>Safety Awareness - Being aware of conditions that effect employee safety.</li></ul>Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required: <ul><li> A full driving license must be held relevant to the vehicle being driven</li><li>For insurance purposes, all drivers must be over 21 years of age</li><li>Whilst we do not ask for a clean license, we will assess the risk of employing applicants who have points on their license, and this may affect our decision to shortlist</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills</li><li>Excellent Customer care</li></ul> Desirable <ul><li>Previous experience of multi-drop delivery driving is highly desirable</li><li>Route planning experience</li></ul> Blue Arrow is proud to be a Disability Confident Employer and is committed to helping find great work opportunities for great people.
