Community Equipment Technician

Role Overview

We are seeking a practical and reliable individual to join a community-focused team delivering, installing, and maintaining essential equipment that supports vulnerable individuals in their homes. This is a hands-on role with a strong emphasis on safety, service quality, and customer care.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-delivery inspections and deliver equipment to service users at home or other locations
  • Collect equipment and return it to the service centre, following quarantine procedures
  • Install and repair telecare and community equipment using appropriate tools and safety protocols
  • Perform servicing and testing of equipment, including battery checks and replacements
  • Reprogram telecare devices according to manufacturer guidelines
  • Respond to emergency call-outs as part of an out-of-hours rota
  • Maintain the cleanliness and roadworthiness of your assigned vehicle, including logging mileage and fuel usage
  • Use handheld scanners to track equipment movements and ensure accurate documentation
  • Assist with stock checks and report any issues with tools or equipment to supervisors

Candidate Profile

Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong communication skills with a professional and empathetic approach
  • Good DIY or mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Attention to detail and effective map-reading/navigation skills
  • Flexible, motivated, and customer-focused

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Full UK driving licence (essential)
  • GCSE-level education or equivalent (preferred)
  • Experience driving vans and interacting with the public
  • Familiarity with ISO9002 procedures (desirable)
