Job Title: Handyman/Caretaker
Location: Peterborough
Salary: £25,000 - £31,000
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 8.30am - 4.30pm Monday - Friday.

About the Role:
Blue Arrow is recruiting on behalf of our client for a dedicated and proactive Handyman/Caretaker to join their maintenance support team. This permanent role is essential to ensuring the site is maintained to a high standard, providing a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for staff, visitors, and young residents.

Ideal Candidate:
* Experience in caretaking, maintenance, or facilities support
* Basic skills in plumbing, carpentry, and general repairs
* Strong awareness of health & safety and safeguarding practices
* Holds a valid UK driving licence (preferred)

Key Responsibilities:
🔧 Internal Maintenance
* Carry out minor repairs to fixtures, fittings, furniture, and plumbing
* Assist with redecoration and basic carpentry tasks
* Monitor and report defects requiring specialist repair
* Support furniture and equipment moves across the site
* Maintain tidy and hazard-free storage areas

🌿 External Maintenance
* Keep outdoor areas clean and safe, including clearing leaves, snow, and debris
* Inspect and maintain fences, gates, walls, and lighting
* Perform minor groundskeeping tasks such as grass cutting and hedge trimming
* Support the setup and maintenance of sports equipment
* Conduct basic window cleaning and external repairs

🚪 Site Operations
* Open and close premises including gates, doors, and fire exits
* Escort contractors and visitors as required
* Collect equipment and supplies when needed

🛡️ Health & Safety
* Produce risk assessments and follow safe working practices
* Understand and comply with COSHH regulations
* Ensure proper storage and maintenance of tools and materials
* Keep work areas clean, secure, and organised
* Adhere to site safeguarding policies to protect young persons
