Transport Services Driver - Temporary/On-Going
Location: Newbury
Pay Rate: £12.84/hour (£13.35 post AWR)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Temporary (Ongoing via Blue Arrow)

We are currently looking to recruit a Transport Services Driver to support one of our clients in Newbury. This is a temporary, but on-going assignment with Blue Arrow, offering a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the community.

You will be responsible for transporting a variety of passengers; including school pupils, vulnerable adults, health service clients, and members of the public, safely and professionally across the local area.


Key Responsibilities:

• Drive a range of council vehicles including minibuses, MPVs, and wheelchair-accessible vehicles
• Follow scheduled routes and timetables, ensuring punctuality and reliability
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and basic maintenance (e.g. oil, water)
• Maintain vehicles in a clean, safe, and presentable condition
• Assist passengers with boarding, seating, and securing mobility aids
• Handle cash and other payment methods accurately
• Communicate effectively with carers, parents, and staff regarding transport needs
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and council policies

Requirements:

• Full, clean driving licence with D1 entitlement (some roles may accept category B)
• Aged 25 or over (for insurance purposes)
• Experience driving larger vehicles or minibuses
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to follow instructions and route plans
• Willingness to wear a uniform and undergo a DBS check
• Understanding of working with vulnerable individuals and maintaining confidentiality

Desirable:

• Category D licence with Driver CPC
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or additional needs
• Basic IT skills (Outlook, Microsoft Office)
