Principal Environmental Technical Officer needed!!
* Salary: £20.66 per hour
* Location: Exeter, EX1
* Hours: Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm
* Till December 2025 with the possibility of extension
Main duties and responsibilities
Experience of working with GIS software, including knowledge of specialised packages such as ArcGIS and a familiarity with mapping and digitising techniques
Possess good project and team management skills
Experience of providing evidence-based policy advice to decision makers
Practical experience of researching, preparing and conducting campaigns/educational initiatives
Ability to produce high quality, accurate work to tight timescales
Knowledge of Environmental Health and the issues which affect Environmental Health policy
Practical experience in general environmental health enforcement
A positive, flexible and enthusiastic approach to work with the ability to inspire and enthuse a team in a "can do approach" to service provision
Self-motivated to carry out duties with the minimum of supervision
Ability to influence and communicate at all levels across the Council.
Ability to deliver the service in an innovative way
Required
BSc/Diploma in Environmental Health and EHORB Certificate of Registration OR other relevant science or maths degree or equivalent professional qualification in the field of noise/air quality monitoring or contaminated land
A minimum of five years Local Government experience in the area of noise/air quality monitoring or contaminated land
OR
:
A proven track record of working in the area of expertise outlined in the 'main duties and responsibilities' section AND experience of managing complex projects and heavy workloads.
Must have a valid driving license.
The role involves accessing restricted areas, such as areas in roofs or basements, climbing ladders and accessing rough terrain away from paved roads and paths. There is a necessity for walking to certain sites, not accessible by other means
