Warehouse Operative - Derby

Location: Derby City Centre near to Pentagon Island
Hours: 4 days on 4 days off - 7:00am-17:15pm (Includes weekends) total 9.75 hours a day after breaks
Pay rates: starting at £12.82 per hour, rising to £14.41 per hour once training is completed

Important - there will be a training period, once trained pay rates will increase to the below:
Training period of 4 days paid at £12.82 per hour 7am till 17:15pm
Shift increased once trained to £14.41 per hour for working 4 days on 4 days off
Overtime is offered at £18.75 per hour once core hours are met and during peak periods.

Start dates: Tours are from this week, with a start date from w/c 15th of September

You're working hours would be 7:00am until 5:15pm for 4 days (9.5 hour days), then having a lovely 4 days off to spend time with family, friends, go on holiday, whatever you want.
This shift is perfect for those who want to be able to spend as much time with family and friends as possible, while still earning a competitive pay rate. This 4 on 4 off shift allows you to do just that.


You will be packing items into sets very delicately, due to the fragile products. This role can be repetitive, and manual tasks will be required. You will be required to work on your feet for the duration of your shift, so if you have previous experience using scanners, or can work quickly and precise, and worked to targets previously this would be useful for the role.

As a warehouse operative your new job will involve:

  • Picking and packing goods quickly and efficiently, while taking great care not to damage any goods.
  • Moving pallets using manual pump trucks.
  • building flat pack boxes and preparing items for delivery
  • labelling products
  • Quality checking of products
  • Using handheld scanners and paper to pick items, ensuring targets and correct items are picked at a fast pace.
  • Working towards targets & deadlines individually and within a team.
  • Reporting any issues to the relevant person
  • Keeping your workstation clean and tidy to ensure that you can work to the best of your ability.
  • Loading and unloading goods from vehicles carefully.
  • Wrapping pallets of products and unwrapping.
  • Carrying out stock checks using electronic handheld scanners.
  • General warehousing duties, which can include general cleaning in and around the warehouse.

The ideal warehouse operative:

  • Safety shoes and High Vis vest preferred but not essential as we can provide these for you
  • Have experience with electronic devices and can work in a fast pace environments.
  • Has had previous warehouse experience- Preferred but not essential.
  • Has experience working within a retail/supermarket environment could be advantageous.
  • Can attend site and ready for work at your work station by 7am
  • Can work 4 on 4 off shift patterns which will include weekends due to when the shift patterns fall.
  • Can work weekends due to your 4 days on shifts, this is non negotiable and has to be covered when booked to work.
  • Is able to work efficiently whilst working at a quick pace.
  • Has a can-do attitude and take pride in their job
  • Is hard-working and reliable.
  • Is looking for a full time position
  • Worked to targets previously
  • Happy to work on their feet for 9.75 hours a day
  • Happy to conduct repetitive work
  • Used hand held scanners, or paper base picking systems.
  • High levels of numeracy and literacy

Pay rates:

Your first 4 shifts will be training shifts, working 4 days straight 7am till 17:15pm, with two paid 15 minutes breaks and a half hour unpaid lunch break. This will be paid at £12.82 per hour for your first week.


Once trained you will then receive a pay rise up to £14.41 per hour, and will be required to work 4 days on 4 days off 7am till 17:15pm this will include weekends - not every weekend just when your shift falls on them.


There will be overtime on offer during peak times which will be paid at £18.75 per hour as long as your complete your shift patter of 4 days on then the 5th day will be paid at overtime.
