School Site Assistant/Caretaker required to work at a school in South Birmingham. This role will be ongoing from 1st September working a split shift pattern. As a caretaker/site assistant you will be required to:<ul><li>Ensuring the security of the school's premises and grounds, locking at the appropriate times, closing of windows and setting of alarms. Unlocking and locking up the school site as well as individual departments</li><li>Keeping the school grounds maintained and tidied</li><li>General maintenance/ DIY - fixing and put furniture together, painting, using hand held tools if required, basic plumbing</li><li>Assisting with any school deliveries</li><li>Overlooking the schools health and safety.</li><li>Check and operate the fire alarm system and undertake duties in the event of a fire evacuation.</li><li>Support the Site Manager the preparation and maintenance of fire risk assessments for school site.</li><li>Checking fire extinguishers and other health and safety aspects of the schools</li><li>Liaising with contractors and escorting them around site</li><li>Setting up classrooms and halls for assemblies and parents' evenings</li><li>Assisting with lettings, bookings, set up of equipment and grounds supervision of evening/weekend meetings and afterschool activities</li><li>Gardening and outdoor site maintenance - lawn mowing, using a strimmer, weeding, litter picking</li><li>General cleaning and janitorial duties</li><li>To report any health and safety issues to the site manager</li><li>To carry out other tasks assigned by the site manager</li></ul> Requirements:<ul><li>Must be able to work Monday to Friday, on an ongoing basis working split shifts</li><li>Has experience as a school site assistant - ideally 2 years - COSHH awareness and Health and Safety knowledge</li><li>Holds an ENHANCED Child DBS in date within the last 12 months, or an ENHANCED DBS on the update service.</li><li>Must have safeguarding training - BlueArrow can provide this if required</li></ul> About You:<ul><li>Self motivated, independent and uses own initiative</li><li>Hard working</li><li>Great punctuality and highly reliable</li></ul> Hours: Monday-Friday - 7am-10am and 2pm-6pm - 40 hours a week Pay: £13 per hour Start date: 1st September Blue Arrow Benefits<ul><li>Weekly pay</li><li>Pensions scheme</li><li>Holiday accrual</li><li>Blue Arrow app - manage your timetable, view local work, accept/decline shifts, receive job notifications, etc</li></ul> If you are interested in this role, please click APPLY NOW.Blue Arrow is proud to be a Disability Confident Employer and is committed to helping find great work opportunities for great people.
