Nursery Chef Assistant

Position: 2nd Chef

Location: Basingstoke

Start Date: ASAP - 30 hour a week contract Monday to Friday

Salary: £19,000 to £21,000

A well-established nursery is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic 2nd Chef to join their vibrant kitchen team. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about preparing nutritious meals for young children and enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Role Overview:
The 2nd Chef will support the Head Chef in delivering healthy, balanced meals for children aged 0-5, ensuring all dietary needs and food safety standards are consistently met. The role also involves maintaining a clean, well-organised kitchen and contributing to a positive dining experience for the children.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting with the preparation and cooking of daily meals and snacks
- Helping out with Food Prep and Washing up
- Maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen
- Supporting stock rotation, ordering, and kitchen organisation
- Collaborating effectively with the Head Chef and nursery staff

Candidate Requirements:
- Experience in a similar kitchen or catering role (experience in a nursery or school setting is advantageous)
- Knowledge of food hygiene and safety regulations (Level 2 Food Hygiene certification preferred)
- A passion for healthy eating and child nutrition
- A team-oriented approach with a positive, can-do attitude
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment
