Job Overview:
A well-established food production company in Reading is seeking a dedicated and experienced Food Production Operative to join their team. This role is ideal for someone with a background in food manufacturing and hands-on experience with commercial cooking equipment. Candidates with an engineering or mechanical background will be highly valued due to the technical nature of the equipment used.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare raw ingredients according to company specifications (measuring, cutting, processing)
- Operate and monitor commercial cooking and food production machinery
- Ensure consistent quality, taste, and appearance of food products
- Accurately and hygienically package finished goods
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas in line with food safety standards
- Follow all health, safety, and hygiene regulations
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production targets and resolve issues
Requirements:
- Previous experience in food production or manufacturing
- Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment (e.g., ovens, kettles, mixers)
- Engineering or mechanical experience is a strong advantage
- Understanding of food hygiene and safety practices
- Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to work across different production areas as needed
