Job Title: Refuse Collector / Back Loader

Location: Swansea

Job Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and physically fit individual to join our Waste Collection Team as a Refuse Collector. This role involves the collection of household and commercial waste, recycling, and garden waste from designated routes across the Swansea area. The successful candidate will work as part of a crew, assisting with the loading of refuse into collection vehicles and ensuring all work is carried out safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collect household, recycling, and garden waste bins from residential and commercial properties.
* Work on foot along busy rounds, sometimes in high-traffic areas, always ensuring safety.
* Operate as part of a team to maintain a quick pace and stay in line with the refuse collection vehicle.
* Get on and off the back of the lorry frequently throughout the shift.
* Ensure bins are returned neatly and safely to the correct location after emptying.
* Report any issues such as missed collections, damaged bins, or obstructions.
* Follow all health and safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
* Maintain good communication with your team and supervisors.
Requirements:
* Physical fitness - the role is physically demanding and involves repetitive lifting, walking long distances, and working in all weather conditions.
* Ability to work efficiently and keep up with the refuse collection vehicle on a tight schedule.
* Good awareness of road safety and surroundings when operating near traffic.
* Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
* Team player with good communication skills.
* Experience in a similar role is beneficial but not essential - full training will be provided.
Additional Information:
* This role is outdoors and operates in all weather conditions.
* Early morning starts are required.
* Uniform and personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided.
