Drainer
Salary: £15.58
Location: SR4, Sunderland
Hours: Monday-Friday- 8am - 4.30pm
Till June 2026

To carry out repairs, maintenance and renewal of highway drainage systems and also drainage in council buildings and schools.

Working pattern:
8.00 - 16.30 Mon - Thursday
8.00 - 13.00 Friday

Requirements: Must have
Full UK Driving Licence
CSCS Accredited
Experienced drainer

Main purpose of job
The position of Drainer will be filled by a person who is skilled and qualified to a minimum competency standard imposed by Highways Operations. They will execute the maintenance, repair, renewal & installation of all drainage systems in either a maintenance or scheme environment

Key responsibilities
To carry out all types of drainage duties ensuring compliance with specification, quality standards, and in accordance with all current relevant codes of practice and legislation

Must be prepared to work with untreated sewage

Must be prepared to work in confined spaces

Must be prepared to work in all weathers

Key tasks
To complete all necessary paperwork/ utilise technology and systems relating to the position.

To drive, when required, any vehicle or plant deemed necessary that you are licensed for, or have received training for

To erect and dismantle temporary traffic management including cones, signs, temporary traffic lights, barriers, etc.

To plan and organise works directly from drawings, specifications or work instructions. To measure, mark out, calculate and order materials as required/ in the absence of the manager.
