Job Title: Assembly Technician

Location: Reading

Job Type: Full-Time, Temporary (3 Month Contract)

Hours: 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday

Pay Rate: £12.80 to £14.80 per hour dependent on Experience

The Role:

In this role, you'll be at the heart of our production process, meticulously assembling complex computer systems and sub-assemblies. You'll follow engineering specifications, uphold quality standards, and meet production schedules. Your keen eye for detail and technical skills will be essential in delivering top-notch, reliable products that our customers rely on.

Key Information:

  • Immediate start
  • Must be available to work for the full 3-month contract Monday to Friday
  • You will need to have previous experience in a similar role

Requirements:

  • Perform intricate electro-mechanical assembly of computer systems,
  • including but not limited to circuit boards, chassis, power supplies, and
  • Interpret and follow detailed assembly instructions, engineering drawings,
  • wiring diagrams, and Bill of Materials (BOMs).
  • Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to assemble
  • components accurately and efficiently.
  • Solder and crimp electrical connections according to industry standards and
  • best practices.
  • Install and configure operating systems and basic software applications as
  • Conduct in-process quality checks and inspections to identify and resolve
  • any assembly defects.
  • Troubleshoot basic hardware and software issues during the assembly
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety regulations
  • and procedures.
  • Accurately document assembly processes, including any deviations or nonconformances
  • using applicable ERP/MRP and JIRA applications.
  • Collaborate effectively with other team members, including engineers, quality
  • assurance personnel, and production colleagues.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance assembly
  • processes and efficiency.
  • Handle and transport sensitive electronic components with care and
  • adherence to electrostatic discharge (ESD) prevention measures.
  • Ensure timely completion of assigned tasks to meet production deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
  • Understanding of cleaning techniques and use of cleaning equipment

Education/Experience

  • IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 certification
  • Experience with the assembly of ruggedized or high-reliability electronic systems
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and practices.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Formal vocational training or certification in electronics assembly or a related

field.
