We have a fantastic opportunity for you to join our client, based in Belfast as a full-time Communications Officer

Pay Rate: £19.59 per hour

Start Date: ASAP

Duration of Assignment: Up to 25 weeks

Hours of work: Monday to Friday 9-5

The Role

Working for Oifig An Choimisinéara Gaeilge, the postholder will take the lead in creating and implementing a communications strategy which support the principal aim of the Commissioner to enhance and protect the use of the Irish language by public authorities in the provision of services to the public or a section of the public in Northern Ireland.

The post holder will work with colleagues across the public sector, and key stakeholders including the Irish Language sector, political representatives, Government Advertising Unit and Press and Private Offices.

Key Responsibilities

Communications Strategy

o Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy to promote the Commissioner's objectives and statutory functions.

o Utilise digital platforms, social media, and traditional media to raise awareness of the aims and functions of the office. Ensure messaging is tailored to key audiences, including:

- Irish language speakers and learners

- Public authorities and service providers

- Media and opinion leaders

o Create content that highlights best practice and success stories in Irish language service provision.

o Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns, ensuring value for money and measurable impact.

Stakeholder Engagement

o Build strong relationships with public bodies, community groups, and advocacy organisations to promote collaboration.

o Represent the Commissioner's Office at events, consultations, and public meetings.

o Prepare and deliver presentations, briefings, and reports to stakeholders, including government departments and media outlets.

Resource and Budget Management

o Contribute to the management of the communications and outreach budget.

o Ensure all activities comply with financial policies and deliver cost-effective outcomes.

Event Coordination

o Lead on the planning and delivery of key promotional events, conferences, and awareness campaigns related to the role of the Commissioner.

o Gather feedback and data to inform future strategies and improve engagement.

Internal Communications

o Act as the main point of contact for internal promotional needs.

o Work collaboratively across teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding.

o Produce and update information materials (print and digital) and monitor social media engagement.

Essential Criteria

· The successful candidate must have at least two year's experience in a similar role and ideally be fluent in Irish.
