Radiographer Assistant - Band 3

Location : Antrim
Monday-Friday:
£12.75 per hour

  • Saturday: £17.22 per hour
  • Sunday: £21.55 per hour

Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Contract: 2 months initially


Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Radiographer Assistant (Band 3) to join the Imaging Department. The successful candidate will support Radiologists and Radiographers across both the Symptomatic Service and Breast Screening service, providing high‑quality care to patients before, during and after ultrasound and interventional procedures.

You will also manage patient information using internal systems and other departmental IT tools, ensuring the accurate flow of clinical information in line with policies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Radiologists and Radiographers with all ultrasound and interventional ultrasound procedures.
  • Provide high‑quality patient care, ensuring privacy, dignity, reassurance and clear communication at all times.
  • Support patients with changing, mobility, positioning and aftercare instructions.
  • Manage patient information
  • Prepare and clean examination rooms, trolleys, and equipment following Trust infection control procedures.
  • Apply compression and dressings, as instructed.
  • Ensure correct specimen handling, including signing off and delivering cytology/histopathology samples.
  • Assist in scheduling patients and organising the daily workflow.
  • Maintain stock levels, manage deliveries, and ensure clinical areas remain clean and fully equipped.
  • Support training of new staff by demonstrating assistant duties.
  • Participate in audits, research activity, quality assurance processes and QSI accreditation work.

Essential Criteria

Candidates must meet one of the following:

1

  • 4 GCSEs at Grade A-C (or equivalent) including English Language and Maths
    AND
  • 2 years' experience working in a health care environment

2

  • NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Health Care
    AND
  • 1 year's experience working in a health care environment

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to undertake an Access NI check
  • Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to patient care
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
