We are currently recruiting a Climate Reporting & Communications Officer for our client based in Loughry Campus, Cookstown. The successful candidates will be required to start once the vetting paperwork and ANI completed.

Start date: ASAP

Rate of pay: £19.59PH

Key Responsibilities:

Climate reporting & Communications Officer

Purpose of Job:

To support DfI Rivers with climate adaptation reporting, internal communication, and delivery of actions arising from Flooding Reviews.

Main Duties:

  • Support preparation of statutory reporting under the NI Climate Change Act 2022, including Section 52 Adaptation Reporting.
    * Track, coordinate and report progress on Flooding Review recommendations relevant to DfI Rivers.
    * Assist in preparing SMT updates, ministerial briefing material, submissions and cross-departmental correspondence.
    * Maintain internal tracking tools, action logs, evidence repositories and document management linked to climate adaptation and flood resilience.
    * Prepare meeting papers, summaries and technical notes for internal and external working groups.
    * Support internal communication of environmental and climate-related information (non‑corporate comms).
    * Help map and explain linkages between legislative frameworks including the Climate Act, Floods Directive, WFD, FRMP and Asset Management Plans.
    * Assist with updating intranet content, guidance notes and internal awareness materials.
    * Support engagement activities on climate risk, adaptation and flood resilience.

Please note: This is not an exhaustive list and other functions may be required to assist business units needs.

Essential Criteria applicants must have:

  • A relevant degree in environmental science, geography, sustainability, communications, public administration or a closely related discipline. (Proof of certs required)
  • Experience preparing written material such as reports, summaries, briefing notes or technical updates.
  • Experience coordinating tasks or tracking actions within a project, operational or regulatory setting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly to internal audiences.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Experience working with environmental, flooding, climate adaptation or regulatory information.
  • Experience supporting reporting or compliance processes.
  • Experience engaging with internal or external stakeholders.
  • Experience analysing information or interpreting technical/environmental content.
