This is a long-term temporary opportunity.</strong></div><div><strong>Our client is Northern Ireland's Leading Public Sector Employer.</strong></div><div> </div><div><strong>Administrator Pay Rate: £13.75</strong></div><div> </div><div><strong>Start Date: ASAP</strong></div><div> </div><div><strong>Key Accountabilities:</strong></div><div>Assistant Scientific Officers are responsible for the description, recovery and/or the examination/analysis of materials from a variety of items. ASOs work across different areas and will cover a broad cross-section of work.  This role is also Lab based.</div><div><strong>Knowledge of the working environment</strong></div><ul><li>Understanding of the laboratory environment.</li><li>Understanding of how they contribute to the overall performance of the laboratory.</li><li>Fully conversant with all policies and procedures as relevant to their role.</li><li>Understanding of their responsibilities within the QMS and technical operating procedures.</li></ul><div><strong>People</strong></div><ul><li>Working with, supporting and providing cover for other team members to achieve results.</li><li>Ensuring relevant staff are kept fully informed of developments.</li></ul><div><strong>Achieving results</strong></div><ul><li>Carrying out recovery and examinations.</li><li>Carrying out analytical tests.</li><li>Delivering results against instructions accurately and in line with expected deadlines.</li><li>Exhibit storage and retrieval.</li><li>Preparation of laboratory reagents and solvents.</li><li>Making appropriate records as work proceeds, ensuring results are accurately recorded and Sample Manager and Casebook Management System are updated.</li><li>Attending court/case conferences, as appropriate.</li><li>Attending and assisting in the forensic examination of scenes of crime.</li><li>May be required to undertake other duties as required e.g. sectional finance support.</li><li>May be required to work an on-call rota operation.</li></ul><div><strong>Quality</strong></div><ul><li>Ensuring results are validated through carrying out appropriate quality checks.</li><li>Completing all work in line with FSNI accepted quality standards and technical operating procedures</li></ul><div><strong>H&amp;S and Equality</strong></div><ul><li>Adhering to all policies and procedures in relation to Health and Safety and Equality e.g. COSHH.</li><li>Identifying and managing risks reporting any issues to their manager.</li></ul><div><strong>Services</strong></div><ul><li>Establish the needs and expectations of customers and deal with them appropriately.</li><li>Professional Development</li><li>Ensuring relevant technical competencies are maintained and skills developed to maximise flexibility across the Laboratory.</li></ul><div><strong>Qualifications and experience</strong></div><ul><li>4 GCE/GCSE 'O' levels, grades A - C.
