Our public sector client is currently seeking a highly motivated and professional Administrator to join our Business Support Team in Cookstown. This role is vital in helping us deliver a modern, efficient, and customer-focused administrative service that supports our mission: to deliver a fire and rescue service and work in partnership with others to ensure the safety and well-being of our community.
Key Responsibilities
You will contribute to the smooth running of the Local Delivery Centre (LDC) and wider organisational functions by:
- Acting as first point of contact for visitors and callers, providing a professional reception and switchboard service.
- Supporting meetings and multi-functional projects through agenda preparation, minute taking, and follow-up tasks.
- Providing administrative support across directorates including Service Delivery, Service Support, Finance, and HR.
- Managing correspondence, mail, databases, spreadsheets, and records in line with NIFRS policies.
- Assisting with complaints, FOI and Data Protection requests, and parliamentary questions.
- Coordinating travel bookings, petty cash reconciliation, and general office duties.
- Supporting compliance with GDPR and records management policies.
- Participating in training and contributing to continuous improvement of administrative systems.
Essential Criteria
- Possess at least 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, or equivalent, to include English and Maths
AND
Have at least 2 years' experience of working in a demanding office environment, carrying out a range of business support tasks including scheduling and administrative support for meetings.
OR
Have at least 4 years' experience of working in an office environment, carrying out a range of administrative tasks.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft applications, to include, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Can demonstrate:
- effective planning, organisation, prioritising skills and attention to detail;
- the ability to work individually and as part of a team;
- effective communication skills (both oral and written);
- an ability to produce timely and accurate information;
- a customer service orientation.
