Here, we’ll walk through what a Logistics Supervisor does day-to-day, how to become one, what to include on your CV and the related roles worth exploring across logistics, supply chain, and operations.

What Is a Logistics Supervisor?

A Logistics Supervisor oversees the daily operations within a warehouse or distribution environment, ensuring goods are received, stored, picked, packed, and dispatched safely, accurately, and on time. Acting as the frontline leader within a logistics team, you’ll manage shift activities, allocate workloads, support operatives, and maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping, and performance.

On a typical day, you’ll brief your team at the start of the shift, coordinate with transport teams on outbound schedules, monitor workflow on the warehouse floor, and adjust resources to meet demand spikes or operational changes. You’ll handle queries from transport, customer service, and planning teams, ensuring stock is available, orders are prioritised correctly, and any potential delays are escalated early.

A large part of the role involves compliance and safety. You’ll ensure material handling equipment (MHE) checks are completed, stock movements are recorded accurately on the warehouse management systems (WMS), and site processes are followed in line with company policies and audit requirements. You may also support incident investigations, training records, and toolbox talks to strengthen safety culture.

This is a hands-on leadership role in a fastmoving environment. You’ll be supporting your team on the warehouse floor, solving real-time problems, and keeping operations running smoothly. If you enjoy people leadership, structured processes, and making sure daily operations stay on track, this role is an excellent fit and offers clear progression into management.
