Management and Leadership Level 5

Operations/departmental managers are responsible for managing teams and/or projects as well as achieving goals and objectives as part of the delivery of the organisation’s strategy.

They are usually accountable to a more senior manager or business owner. Specific responsibilities will vary depending on the sector and size of the organisation they work in, but the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed will be the same wherever the role.

Key responsibilities may include creating and delivering operational plans, managing projects, teams and changes within an organisation, financial and resource management, talent management, coaching and mentoring.

Roles may include - Operations Manager, Regional Manager, Divisional Manager, Department Manager and specialist managers.

The entry requirement for this apprenticeship will be decided by each employer, but may typically be 5 GCSEs at Grade C or higher.

Duration

This apprenticeship will typically take 2.5 years to complete.

Assessment

Once the above programme is completed and the learner, employer and provider agree the necessary Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours/Attitudes have been met, learners will be put forward to an Assessment Gateway which will trigger an End Point Assessment. Apprentices without Level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the End Point Assessment.

This assessment will be carried out with an independent body to ensure the apprentice can demonstrate they have achieved the required standards. 

Result:

On completion, apprentices can register as full members with the Chartered Management Institute and / or the Institute of Leadership & management, to support their professional career development and progression.  Those with 3 years’ of management experience can also apply for Chartered Manager status through the CMI.  Alternatively the CMI qualification can be embedded into the apprenticeship at no additional cost.
