Bronze for Maidstone Branch on Reserves Day

Blue Arrow’s Maidstone branch are celebrating a win last night at The Employer Recognition Awards, hosted by Major Jonathan Darrington-Slegg.

The exclusive and intimate event at Ramsgate Army Barracks, Defence and Development Centre was attended by a selection of local businesses and Reservists and Cadets. It is one of a number of events UK-wide that support The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS).

ERS encourages employers to support defence and inspire others to do the same. It encompasses bronze, silver and gold awards for employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the armed forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.

Nominated by a Reservist who works regularly as a Chef de Partie through the Maidstone branch, the team won the bronze award for their demonstration of being armed forces-friendly and openness to employing reservists, armed forces veterans (including the wounded, injured and sick), cadet instructors and military spouses/partners.

Recruitment Consultant, Callum Coe proudly collected the award comments “it’s an honour to be recognised for our work but I’d love to do more. It’s a sad reality that we don’t know how many reservists and ex-forces personnel, spouses or partners we help in total because of the stigma they often feel is attached to their forces career and yet at Blue Arrow we see a community of conscientious, highly trained, disciplined people who have unique experiences and skills that can add value to any civilian workplace.”

Blue Arrow pledged its support with the Armed Forces Covenant in November 2016 and continue to celebrate important events like Reserves Day.
