Based from home or onsite at our Swindon office, this is an exciting chance to join our dynamic team as a Medical Underwriter.  

Join us in working in partnership with over 20 well known UK and international financial services providers to administer life, savings and pensions policies on their behalf. We're able to deliver complex processing while maintaining quality, and provide a wide range of services including underwriting, back office administration, claims management and technical support. We work with some of the largest brands in the industry and our financial services team is regarded as a leader in their field. What you will do:

  • Pro-actively assess Underwriting cases on products that may vary on client accounts to ensure that business is written efficiently and effectively within budget limitations
  • Interpret client philosophies to ensure that underwriting decisions are made in line with this guidance
  • Provide thorough and robust justifications of decisions and refer cases to third parties, including CMO, reassurers and client company contacts in an accurate and clear manner
  • Deliver an accurate, efficient and quality service in line with the service level agreements and receive good feedback following internal and external underwriting audits
  • To communicate well both verbally and in writing to give clear instruction, adhere to TCF, manage customer expectations and portray high standards of underwriting services

Where appropriate, to support our pro-active approach to underwriting by use of the telephone wherever appropriate to establish the circumstances of the case, clarify information, triage and manage the customer's expectations

 Your experience will include:

  • Previous experience of medical/life underwriting
  • Experience of protection platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous autonomy in this field and used to interpreting
  • Underwriting Philosophies and nonstandard medical conditions
  • Previous understanding of commercial risk in an underwriting context
  • Liaise with management to agree, plan, implement and monitor daily/weekly targets and service levels
  • Good knowledge of products, services and systems
