French Speaking Assistant Buyer:

As part of our Clients Integrated Procurement Service (IPS) team, this varied role involves the undertaking of Spend Management activities across multiple client accounts which include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Spot Buying and Quotation

In addition to the core responsibilities associated with this position, team members will be supported and trained to assist in other areas across the team. Therefore a key pre-requisite for this position is a willingness to develop both yourself and the service, with an adaptability to change pace and priorities, where and when required.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following activities:


  • Proactively review data and identify opportunity to aggregate requirements and recommend opportunities for cost avoidance
  • To manage and execute the tactical buying process for general, low to mid value spend categories
  • Understand incoming client requests and specification, follow up with the client where required (by phone, email etc) to ensure specifications are clear in order to select the best tactical buying options
  • Receiving and processing/placing and/or expediting (where appropriate) Purchase Requests through a variety of work flow tools following client specific policy and process
  • Undertaking the end to end management of quotation activities including market research, supply options appraisal, to identify opportunities to reduce costs and drive process efficiencies
  • Utilisation of eRfX tools and execution of standardised tactical buying tools and techniques
  • Adherence to client specific policies and processes (i.e. contract procedure rules, OJEU)
  • Recording and reporting of all activity in accordance with client specific requirements including savings delivered
  • Support and contribute to the spend and purchase order compliance and post bid analysis reports

  • Customer service orientated with the ability to manage multiple client expectations to service timescales and requirements
  • Ability to change pace, multi-task and prioritise multiple client workloads to achieve deadlines
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Good interpersonal skills, with an ability and confidence to effectively communicate through various channels of communication and liaise with multiple stakeholders to support client relationships
  • Good numerical and analytical skills
  • Highly computer literate with a good level of Excel knowledge
  • Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to work independently and autonomously and part of a team
  • Ability to take responsibility and accountability for oneself


Experience & Skills:


  • 6 months minimum experience of working in a similar position (experience in a procurement, purchasing, sales or analytical position would be advantageous)
  • Excellent data input and accuracy skills
  • Proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook
  • A working knowledge of ERP and eRfX systems (desirable)
  • A working knowledge, and understanding, of OJEU legislation (desirable)
  • Studying, or a desire to study CIPS
  • French & English Language to a Professional Level
