Chef - Education Site - £19,395 P/A - Winchester

 

The role:

 

An education site in central Winchester are now looking for a Chef de Partie to join their team. The Chef de Partie will work under the direction of the Head Chef and will be one of a team working in the Kitchens. He/she will have responsibilities attached to the daily routine of the House life, including the provision of all daily meals in term-time for up to 70 pupils, the Housemaster and his/her guests, and for a handful of formal occasions during term time. Standards are high, and meals are prepared daily from fresh ingredients. The ability to work quickly according to the requirements of the Kitchen team is essential for this role.  The Chef de Partie will be expected to have flexible availability.

 

You will be required to work 5/7 days working 2 weekends out of 4. This position is for 40 hours per week with a chance to earn overtime. Straight shifts and better balanced work life offered.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

* Learn all aspects of food preparation and cooking under the guidance of the Deputy     Head of Catering and Sous Chefs

 

* Ideally a quick learner who must be able to work under pressure in order to succeed in his or her role

 

* Must maintain high standards of personal and food hygiene

 

* Ideally NVQ Level  1 and 2 qualified however not essential

 

* Must be flexible in order to bend with the sudden changes in rotas etc;

 

* Be prepared to maintain a current food hygiene certificate and to willingly attend relevant H&S training. Observing all relevant statutory requirements for Health and Safety, Food Hygiene, Manual Handling, record keeping and equipment maintenance. Appropriate training will be given.

 

Uniform:

 

Certain items of uniform will be provided, including trousers, jacket and hat. The site will provide the post holder with non-slip plain black shoes. All items must be kept clean and in good repair. The routine laundering of clothing items will be arranged through the College's Central Laundry.

 

Salary:


Circa GBP 19,395 (gross) per annum. Salary is paid monthly, in arrears, to a nominated bank account in 12 equal payments.  Salary levels are reviewed on 1 September annually and this appointment will next be reviewed in 2018.

 

Holidays:

 

The school holiday year runs from 1 September to 31 August. The post-holder will be
entitled to 28 days annually (pro rata if joining mid-year) which includes the usual eight Public Bank Holidays.  Bank Holidays occurring during term time are considered to be normal working days.
