Blue Arrow are recruiting an experienced Engineering Manger to join a forward thinking production facility in West Lothian  

The environment is demanding and fast-paced with conflicting priorities. The job-holder has multiple interfaces with key stakeholders at all levels in the organisation which is going through significant change. The job holder is The Company's "engineering expert" and must work closely with colleagues across all functions and at all levels (from Operator to MD) to deliver cost effective engineering solutions.

The role will involve:-

  1. Lead and manage the Maintenance Team to deliver a best in class maintenance service.
  2. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, H&S standards and Quality & GMP standards. In particular, ensure that all equipment is safe to use and that all engineering staff and contractors operate in a safe manner.
  3. Ensure that breakdowns are responded to quickly and are managed effectively to drive down/minimise engineering downtime and maximise equipment availability/up-time.
  4. Develop a comprehensive maintenance strategy and asset care programme to maximise equipment performance and life. Ensure that the planned preventive maintenance programme is robust and executed effectively.
  5. Maintain all site buildings and facilities, and ensure the provision of all factory services (heating, lighting, power, site security, drainage etc.).
  6. Develop appropriate KPIs and implement a CI process to drive improvements in OEE and other key metrics.
  7. Work closely with the Factory Manager to identify opportunities for improvement and implement appropriate solutions and support the CI programme through the provision of expertise and resources as required.
  8. Lead the energy/utilities reduction programme to reduce costs and environmental impact
  9. Manage the Capital Investment Programme ensuring that all projects:- meet the specified performance criteria, are delivered on time and within budget, meet all Company and regulatory QSHE requirements.
  10. Prepare Capital Investment Proposals and submit for approval in a timely manner.
  11. Maintain effective communications with your team and other key stakeholders.
  12. Coach, mentor, train and develop a multi-skilled Engineering Team and lead the Technician of the Future Programme to ensure that The Business has the engineering skills required to meet its future technology needs.
  13. Provide advice and support Site Management on Engineering matters as required.
  14. Control and manage the maintenance and repairs budget to deliver a cost-effective maintenance function.
  15. As a key member of the Factory Leadership Team, contribute to the development and implementation of the Manufacturing Strategy.
  16. Take personal responsibility for your personal and professional development. Regularly attend seminars, conferences and exhibitions, and maintain close links with other manufacturers and equipment suppliers to maintain knowledge of all aspects of biscuit making, wrapping, packing and associated technologies

Experience Required:-








Several years in production engineering and maintenance management in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
 Leadership and development of maintenance teams.
 Previous project engineering roles


Maintenance management, asset care best practice and TPM.
Must be able to problem solve using machine manuals and wiring diagrams etc.
Must have a working knowledge of electronics/plcs etc
Project management tools & techniques
