Blue Arrow is pleased to support our retail client, based in Shaw, Oldham, in the appointment of an Engineering Team Leader to join their team on a minimum fixed term contract basis of 2 years.

 
Are you a Multi-skilled Electrical & Mechanical Engineer with solid team management experience? 

Electrically biased candidates with strong management experience will also be considered.

* Fixed term contract of 2 years with possibility of extension

Role Purpose:

 

Provide clear direction and leadership to a team of shift Engineers in supporting the utilisation of all available resources, ensuring all qualitative and quantitative business objectives and KPI's are achieved.

 

Reporting to the Engineering Manager and taking responsibility for a team of 4 Multi-skilled engineers, this role will involve the following, but not exhaustive, list of key responsibilities:

 

- Reporting to the Site Engineering Manager the Shift Leader will lead a shift of Engineers in performing Engineering activities ensuring that both internal and external customer service, quality standards and business objectives along with the Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) are achieved.

- Co-ordinating and prioritising Engineering activities to include the completion of Planned Preventative Maintenance activity, reactive jobs issued via the Control Room and the Engineering Services Planner that are captured in the CMMS system (TABS) and installation or project work.

- Liaise with the Engineering Stores Co-ordinator in Identifying spare parts and equipment

- To develop, support and appraise direct reports ensuring appropriate training needs are identified and sufficient training is given that supports both the individual and the business alike.

- Ensure that the required Health & Safety and housekeeping standards are met and that all related KPI's are achieved.

- Liaise with operational support areas (Human Resources, Control room, Training, Management services, Operations Planning) as appropriate to obtain advice and support on resource and technical issues that ensure optimum utilisation of equipment and resources.

- Ensure communication of all local and corporate issues through the agreed communication measures. 

- Help manage within the company guide lines all policies and procedures. (Absence, disciplinary & Grievance, Health & Safety and security).

- Ensure that budgetary processes are adhered to ensuring maximum cost efficiency whilst maintaining both business and KPI objectives.

- To complete site based project work pertinent to achieving the site performance.

- Liaise with 3rd Party support personnel as required to obtain technical support.

- Liaise with Contractors as required in order to obtain technical support or for the completion of specialist jobs.

- Provide hands on fault finding support to the Engineering Team to aid the resolution of issues encountered.

- When required provide hands on support in the completion of Planned Maintenance tasks, reactive jobs issued on CMMS, perform installations and project work.

 

Due to the demands of this role and the requirement to deliver a number of key projects, the following essential knowledge is required; however, where possible, transferable skills will also be considered:

 

- Time served in either a mechanical or electrical discipline with a recognised apprenticeship and at least a BTEC HNC standard or equivalent qualification.

- BS: 7671, 17th Edition wiring Regulations.

- Must be both Computer and hand held device literate with a good working knowledge of packages/apps which include using Word, Excel and Outlook.

- Fully experienced in both mechanical and electrical fault diagnosis and have a detailed knowledge of SCADA and PLC based control systems. (Wonderware, BeSS, Modicon and Siemens) -

- Good working knowledge of a CMMS (TABS). - use of TABS isn't is not a perquisite, however use of other CMMS would be an advantage

- Must be able to use specialised lifting equipment including Cherry Pickers and Genie Lifts. Not a perquisite

- Due to the nature of the role, key tasks can be physically and candidates must be able to work up to heights of 25 metres.- SDG will training in this space, but candidate will need to be capable and willing enough to climb if required.

- Good overall knowledge of the key processes within the warehouse and of safe working practices.

- Good knowledge of internal and external stakeholder needs.

- Good understanding of all policies and procedures with which the operation is managed.
