We are currently recruiting for an experienced Buyer to join our clients growing team based in Livingston.
The role will be a fixed term for 6 months, it may get extended although not guaranteed
Purpose of the Job as Buyer
Responsible for the placement and management of production and non-production purchase orders in a timely manner to support all operational requirements.
(Purchase order placement, expediting, vendor relationship management, cost controls.)
Responsible for developing and improving the purchasing cycle within the order to cash process & providing best value to the ordering process.
(Enquiry, negotiation, supplier selection, PO placement & relationship management).
Key member of the Operations team for supporting delivery of major customer contracts, working in close relationship with the Purchasing Manager and other purchasing team members to ensure project delivery in all aspects; specification compliant, best quality, on time delivery and at best value.
Responsible for the RFQ process for components for Livingston contracts, ensuring compliance with preferred and approved suppliers.
Lead contract negotiations with suppliers on all aspects (cost, warranty, and payment terms)
Working with internal departments, Production, Planning, Engineering, Stores & logistics.
Ensure on time placement of Purchase Orders in line with the project schedule.
Support the Aftermarket team on facilitating a fast moving environment and providing a timely response.
Supplier relationship owner for agreed key ordering categories.
Optimise the performance of the key category suppliers in dimensions including cost reduction, supplier delivery and quality performance, risk mitigation, commodity economics, working capital improvement, and contract compliance.
Drive the use of continuous improvement tools throughout the strategic sourcing process to continuously improve all aspects of the purchasing department performance Dimensions

Experience within a project driven Engineer-To-Order (ETO) manufacturing environment
Sourcing strategy understanding
Experience with ERP / MRP Systems (Movex, Syteline advantageous)
Accurately captures records and communicates information.
Experience in negotiating procurement agreements
Knowledge of Supply Chain processes, procedures and theory.
Excellent Microsoft office skills (Excel, Word)
Flexible working hours required (to meet business needs)
Complexity and creativity
Ability to resolve sourcing and commercial issues without compromising quality, delivery or cost
Travel Domestic and international travel may be required
