We are looking for people to lead a team of up to 15 young people aged between 15 and 17years old through a four week summer programme including residential trips away from home, local skills workshops and social action projects. 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and engage in activities with a group of NCS participants.
  • Attend the meet and greet event prior to the programme.
  • Facilitate and deliver curriculum sessions that promote Independence, social skills, employ-ability and problem solving skills
  • Lead visits to local charities and community partners.
  • Assist the NCS Wave leader to ensure all policies are in place to protect the NCS participants and staff.
  • Work with NCS staff to overcome problems that may occur in any stage of the programme.
  • Oversee the health, well being and behaviour management of a group of young people.
  • Follow safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the safety of young people.
  • Build positive relations with young people to provide support on a one to one and group basis in order to achieve NCS goals.  


Ideal Candidates:

  • Experience in working with young people
  • Knowledge of the NCS programme
  • Excellent team work skills with the ability to inspire and motivate
  • Experience of working with demanding fast paced environments
  • Awareness of equality and diversity
  • Punctual, reliable and well organised
  • A relevant qualification in youth work, teaching, health and social care or equivalent.
  • Current DBS
