Blue Arrow have a very exciting position for an experienced hands on Production Supervisor with a fantastic company going through continued growth based in Plymouth.

Reporting to the Group Production Manager, the Production Supervisor will ensure alignment to the company operational business plan and ensure the smooth running of the production function
The Production Supervisor will ensure that all commercial objectives and targets are met and will support the rest of the production team in ensuring that their targets are met on an hour-to-hour and day-to-day basis, as this is a hands on role the successful candidate will have a good background in Fabrication.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Agreeing daily contracts with team leaders and production team to ensure that the production plan is achieved
• Set, maintain and manage pace and quality standards across our production teams
• Ensure that all production cells and production teams have the required materials, information and tools to carry out their work
• Ensure that procedures are met including quality sign offs, housekeeping and health and safety
• Ensure that tools and machines are maintained and checked by himself/herself and the wider team
• Ensure that agency staff are managed and looked after to the same standard as our own team
• Work closely with our technical team to ensure that all relevant feedback is provided and that we seek out all opportunities for improvements and productivity gains
• Builds the capabilities of the team by educating, training and coaching
• Develops performance and improves team skills
• Ensures that the on-time delivery of all production requirements as expected by the customer (both internal and external)
• Ensures that the quality and integrity of all processes, products and materials secures their conformance to specification and functionality
• Ensures the availability of enough and suitable resources that accurately reflect the current situation and operating conditions (people, machines, skills etc.)
• Plans the resources to meet all production requirements, maintains organisation and keeps the team focused and on track, allocates tasks, obtains the necessary resources to perform these tasks and prioritises them based on the information available so that key issues are tackled first, and activities are correctly focused

Behaviours and Leadership
• Accepts the accountability and responsibility along with the authority given in the position
• Serves as the figurehead and leads by setting an example (a role model) by maintaining actions and behaviours consistent with the words
• Ensures that the organisational policies, rules, values and levels of acceptable behaviour are maintained, and that negative behaviour is identified and takes the appropriate action
• Supports and provides an environment for continuous improvement and waste reduction that progresses the departments performance in-line with the business objectives

Job Requirements: 

• 2 years plus experience as a shop floor supervisor
• Must be technically competent, able to understand and work with technical drawings and instructions
• Experience and understanding of machining, hand tools, fabrication and finishing
• Experience of working with acrylics and other rigid plastics would be an advantage but we expect that other skills and knowledge around wood working and metal working will be easy to transfer
• A strong personality with the confidence and knowledge to challenge the status quo
• Ability to co-ordinate multiple group efforts within the company to achieve objectives.
• Solid track record of meeting pace and quality targets
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, with awareness of deadlines.
• Ability to identify processes needing improvement, and to recommend solutions
