Blue Arrow Derby is looking to recruit an experienced Operations Manager (purchasing experience required) on a full-time permanent basis for an excellent manufacturing client based in Alfreton.
Hours: 7.30 - 5pm Monday - Thursday - 7.30 - 4.30pm on a Friday (Full-time)
Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 (depending on experience)

About the Role
The Operations Manager will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the company relative to manufacture and despatch of goods and the role will therefore bring all areas of the business involved in the production together to achieve deadlines.
This is a hands-on position, and the successful candidate will be expected to supervise the production team ensuring that production is flowing, but as we are a small business also lending a hand during exceptional circumstances and busy periods. Problems may be encountered in the daily routine and therefore it will be necessary for you to make effective decisions whilst under pressure.

You will need to be proactive at raising issues/queries and bringing solutions to the business. You will be responsible for organising and motivating staff available to complete work to deadlines and therefore must prioritise workload so that deadlines are achieved. You will need to plan for the following day's production before you leave for the day to ensure smooth running of production.
To achieve daily, weekly and monthly deadlines it will be necessary to plan ahead and view the bigger picture.
You are responsible for maintaining the Company's requirements relative to standards of work, health and safety, adherence to policies and goals within the team you are responsible for.
Duties will include:
* Purchasing & Stock Control
o Managing all aspects of purchasing administration under the guidance of the Directors
o Organising a quarterly stock take, and updating all systems
o Control of supplier tanks/IBC's/Pallets
* Production Planning
o Ensuring that all elements of production are planned daily for the mixing and filling departments.
o Final check of customer orders, ensuring that all components are available to fulfil the order.
* Overseeing production
o Ensuring the smooth flow of production, providing solutions, and ensuring that deadlines are met, and goods are despatched in a timely manner
o Being the 'link' between the office and production to ensure that everything runs smoothly
* Managing goods in
o Liaising with suppliers, ensuring deadlines are met and dealing with discrepancies
* Overseeing Despatch
o Ensuring that deadlines are met for parcel carriers and hauliers
o Generating and Issuing export paperwork as necessary
o Scheduling the workload/routes for our company lorry
o Checking the correct pallets are being loaded onto hauliers/paperwork
* Equipment and site tidiness and cleanliness
o Daily checks for insurance purposes
o Allocating cleaning and tidying tasks as necessary
o Promoting a safe and secure working environment, ensuring health and safety procedures are adhered to.
o Ensuring that equipment is cleaned after use and in a good state of repair.
About you:
* The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years' experience in an operations management role or similar role in a small/medium manufacturing operation.
* Previous experience within purchasing

* Have the ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and expectations and be able to use initiative when instant decisions are required.

* A confident communicator able to effectively engage and influence suppliers, and colleagues at all levels of the business.
