Job Purpose
To provide a professional strategic HR service to allocated business areas, ensuring up to date expert, consistent advice, support and practice covering all staff;
To ensure the provision of effective transactional and expert services in conjunction with other senior members of the workforce department;
To embed good HR performance practice within the designated business area, including reporting on key HR KPIs and taking appropriate action. The role will be crucial to the success of workforce strategy implementation within divisions and all business areas;
The Business Partner will be an integral member of the divisional top team, supporting all workforce issues and ensuring that the workforce is aligned to achieve the business priorities and objectives;
Developing and monitoring divisional level workforce plans that support the delivery of strategic objectives both internal and external to the organisation;
Leading on supporting senior leaders in division and business areas in developing and implementing divisional workforce strategies;
Developing and implementing plans to improve people management and leadership capability;
Working with managers to develop and implement plans to improve workforce performance and productivity;
Coaching and inspiring senior leaders to excel in leadership and team responsibilities on as part of business as usual and long term organisational design and development issues;
Supporting the development and use of workforce engagement, productivity and performance metrics;
Ensuring devolved divisional training budgets have value adding outcomes are most effective, monitored and evaluated and aligned to divisional objectives;
Leading on initiatives and programmes of work around Trust wide HR developments as agreed with the HR senior management team;
Up-to-date knowledge of current NHS operational and workforce issues
Up-to-date knowledge, understanding and application of employment law and Equality legislation
Knowledge and understanding of strategic HR policies
In-depth knowledge and application of Human Resources best practice
Project management methodology
Knowledge of NHS Terms and Conditions (Agenda for Change and Medical and Dental terms and conditions of service)
Working knowledge of business analytics and interpretation
Skills and Experience
Specialist HR experience of oneor more of the following areas: performance management, business planning,developing strategy,workforce planning
Customer focused delivery of excellence in HR & OD service
Experience of working effectively with Trade Unions
Experience of successfully delivering change
Experience of successfully working within the business to improve performance and productivity
Experience and abilityof communicating verbal and written information to all levels of the organisation,on a one tooneand group basis in a manner that is clear, fluent and persuasive
Experience of managing and working within a team and inspiring others to achieve priorities, goals and objectives
Ability to interpret legislation, national terms and conditions of employment and other guidance and provide pragmatic risk appropriate solutions
Strong influencing and negotiation skills
Ability to act as a role model for staff and advocate best practice
Ability to develop, review and interpret policies and procedures
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the Divisions and business areas
Sound judgement and decision making - analysing problems and developing solutions
Presentation and facilitation skills
Commercially focused and results oriented
