Blue Arrow Derby is proud to be working in partnership with a leading Healthcare provider, and we are currently looking to recruit an experienced HR Advisor to join their expanding team.
Please note this role will be based on-site in their Derby office but there is an option to working from home one day a week.
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hour per week)
Salary: £25,654 (flexible depending on experience)
About the Role
To support the Head of HR and HR Team to provide a high level of guidance and support to all employees. The post holder will ensure proactive and effective management of employment relations and absence matters: provide generalist advice and support to managers across the HR spectrum; assist with HR projects on an ad hoc basis.
Duties will include:
* To take calls and queries from managers and staff, by e-mail, phone or in person in respect of general HR queries, responding in a timely way with accurate information
* Generation of general correspondence, including letters, minutes, and reports
* Filing, photocopying, and general administrative duties as required
* To undertake specific HR projects as specified by the Head of HR
* To participate, as required, in the design and delivery of training and development events for managers on relevant HR matters, including policies
* To act as an Advisor to Managers on a range of operational Human Resource issues, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures
* To provide a comprehensive, professional HR advice and support service to line managers across the service, across a range of employment relations issues
* To advise and support line managers in handling disciplinary cases
* To support managers in the resolution of grievances
* To give advice and support to line managers on both short term and long-term absence, liaising with key stakeholders as appropriate
* To ensure robust systems and processes are in place to ensure comprehensive absence case history of an employee is available, including reason for absence and absence patterns
* To give regular progress updates to the Head of HR / Senior Management Team on individual absence cases
* To produce absence management activity reports and statistical data monthly
* To review the absence cases with a view to analysing and identifying trends
* To keep up to date with developments in employment legislation and human resources best practice
* To build and maintain relationships with clients (HR and/or line managers) to support them effectively with their key business and management issues and procedures
Essential Requirements
* Good level of general education including English and Maths to grade C or above or equivalent qualification
* CIPD Qualification or working towards
* Commitment to ongoing personal development
* Strong HR generalist background
* Proven experience in a HR Advisory position, managing a varied caseload of employee relations activities
* End to end experience of managing a variety of absence management issues, including complex cases
* Experience of providing advice and support to Managers in a timely manner, across the HR spectrum
* Knowledge and practical application of current employment legislation
* Experience of reporting on large data sets through excel
* IT proficient, competent user of Microsoft Office software
* Excellent interpersonal communication and organisational skills
* Ability to work to tight deadlines and use own initiative
* Ability to deal with difficult situations in a professional manner
* Ability to recognise and act upon the implications of actions and decisions
* Ability to travel to other site locations on occasions
* Flexibility to work occasional out of hours periods including evenings and weekends

The Commute
The Derby site is in Pride Park, so near Derby City Centre, this location would suit anyone with their own transport in Derby or the surrounding areas. The site is also easily commutable to via bus services, as there are bus stops a short walk from the site, and a 5-minute walk from Derby train station.
