GP Receptionist
Hours: Monday-Friday 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £20,000
Location: ME17 4PL
I am currently working with a GP Surgery based in Coxheath who are looking for a GP Receptionist to join their team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Opening up/locking-up of Practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with practice protocols
* Maintaining and monitoring the Practice appointments system
* Processing in-person and telephone requests for appointments and visits and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional in a courteous manner
* Taking messages accurately and passing on information in a timely manner ensuring handover at the end of your shift as appropriate
* Filing and retrieving paperwork
* Dealing with any repeat prescriptions queries, liaising with the prescribing team
* Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; scanning, processing and recording information in accordance with Practice procedures (document handling)
* Initiating contact with, and responding to, requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers
* Administrative tasks as delegated including summarising, diary dates, adhering to clinical management plans, workflow manager, welcome calls, OOH reports, EMIS tasks, Docman tasks, NHS Health Check Q-risk scores via workflow manager, cervical screening recalls, childhood Immunisations, post-natal checks, contraceptive checks, co-ordinating of Minor Operations appointments.
* Relaying patients' results as directed by the clinicians
* Liaising with Ambulance service as directed by the clinicians for any urgent referrals
* Referring/escalating any complaints to the Team Leader(s) or Operations Team Manager
* Registering new patients, temporary residents and immediately necessary patients
* Collecting payments from patients for non-NHS services
* Understanding, following and completing Death Protocol procedure as necessary
* Organising and sending referrals to District Nurses, Rapid Response at clinician's request
* Be conversant and use all electronic processes as required, including EMIS, Docman, DORIS, email, Excel, 'mydoctor' etc.
* Accepting and logging any over the counter forms e.g. insurance and medical reports
* Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail
* Email correspondence; letter contact to be avoided as far as possible
* Housekeeping - keeping the reception area, administration areas, notice-boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter. Loading and emptying the dishwasher and keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy
