Blue Arrow are recruiting for a People Data Analyst Modern Apprentice for our client based near the city centre of Edinburgh. Initially working from home, the successful candidate will have logical and analytical thinking and an ability to work with others.

The Apprenticeship

An 18-month apprenticeship programme working within the People Directorate. Initially you will complete an SCQF Level 6 in Digital Applications before progressing on to study for a Diploma in Data Analytics at SCQF Level 8. In addition to this you will undertake on-the-job learning and a wide range of short skills courses and training as part of your full apprenticeship. These courses will include training, broader life skills (e.g., wellbeing, digital, communications, financial awareness, problem-solving) alongside technical knowledge of our people systems such as Workday, Cornerstone, Qualtrics, Moodle and our corporate employee wellbeing application.

The primary role of a People Data Analyst is to collect, organise and study people data to provide business insight. People data analysts will typically be involved in managing, cleansing, abstracting and aggregating data related to people as well as conducting a range of analytical studies on that data.

As a People Data Analyst, you will work across a variety of projects and initiatives, providing data and reporting solutions to a range of stakeholders. This will include analysis of business needs, working with stakeholders to understand how best to use data and insight to help decision making. You will work as part of a team to deliver key business reports for publication within and outside of the business. You will document and report the results of your data analysis activities making recommendations to improve upon the experience of our employees and the performance of our business.

Once competent in the role you will have a good understanding of the data structures within our people systems and our procedures for recording, storing and reporting on people data. You will also be able to apply a range of analytical tools to undertake different types of analyses and reporting.

Job responsibilities may include:

    • Develop and support people reporting processes
    • Collect and collate data from different sources
    • Work with internal stakeholders to develop custom reports
    • Define and document detailed people data requirements
    • Monitor and audit people data quality
    • Design and carry out surveys and analyse survey data
    • Analyse and interpret complex people related data sets
    • Prepare reports using reporting and analysis tools
    • Apply tools and techniques to support data validation and cleansing
    • Create people data dashboards, graphs and visualisations
    • Undertake and present on benchmarking exercises
    • Collate and analyse large datasets, form conclusions and present these effectively
    • Set up and maintain automated data processes
    • Apply data and information security standards, policies and procedures

Minimum Entry Criteria

One Higher and 2 National 5s (or equivalent) from Computing, Maths, English, IT, or Science, or any relevant National Certificate
