Blue Arrow are currently recruiting a Stock Controller for our client based in the west side of Edinburgh. This is initially a 3 month contract, with possibility of being extended to 6 months. The posts primary purpose is to support the SNBTS Assistant Procurement Manager (APM) and Plasma Products Manager in managing and co-coordinating the activities of our supply chain partners by supporting and influencing the delivery of SNBTS stores management strategies in inventory & material control and the associated processes

Main duties and responsibilities

  • To control the SNBTS national in-house inventory, calculating stock level, handling variability, analysis and reporting to Line Manager.
  • Manage the day to day stock replenishment for all SNBTS warehouses. Ensuring that stocks are maintained at operational levels at all SNBTS stores locations.
  • Responsibility for placing purchase orders for all SNBTS stores. Utilising the replenishment reports and using supporting information from local stores personnel and the SNBTS Procurement management team.
  • To track and monitor the purchase orders until goods are delivered as per order requirements.
  • To maintain and update a stock item catalogue and a database of all SNBTS stock items using the Financial Management Information System (FMIS) and Excel. In addition maintain and issue the electronic stock requisition voucher (eSRV)
  • To facilitate and record stock transfers between stores to avoid instances of stock outs or to support increases in usage. Ensuring stock transfers where possible are used only in exceptional circumstances to avoid unnecessary double handling and associated transport costs.
  • Reconcile delivery discrepancies when notified to allow clean receipts and to prevent invoice queries.
  • Ensuring any problems (delay, pricing, quality, volume) is communicated to the APM.
  • Conduct monthly housekeeping on the FMIS at all sites that removes any unconfirmed transactions which can be the root of stock discrepancies and stock issuing errors.
  • In conjunction with the Plasma Products manager ensure that ring fenced Plasma Product stock is allocated and issued in line with requirements agreed by NPPEAG and maintain records of issued stock relating to allocations for hospital pharmacies.
  • In conjunction with the Plasma Products manager ensure that all plasma product orders received from hospital pharmacies are processed in line with delivery schedule.
  • Maintain formal quality assurance records for Plasma Products. Including but not limited to checks of certificates of conformance against batch approval sign off, Master product record and Plasma Product Order form.

Experience required

  • Possess proven experience within a stock control function of a multi-functional organisation.
  • The post holder should be educated to degree level or have equivalent training and experience preferably within an inventory management environment. Candidates should have excellent inventory management awareness, and a full understanding of the mechanics of warehouse and materials practices

  • Working knowledge of warehouse operations.
  • Should show initiative and excellent personal, numerative, written and verbal communication skills as well as tact, diplomacy and be expert in dealing with a wide range of issues and to be able to detail to the internal team.

This role Full Time 37.5 hrs Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm

(30 minute unpaid break per day)
