Blue Arrow are working with one of the best hotels in Bexhill, and we are looking for talented and dedicated chefs to join our kitchen team.
You will ideally love exploring seasonal ingredients and surprising our customers with new and interesting flavours. If you enjoy learning to cook an ever evolving menu with only the best quality ingredients then apply today.
Ongoing temporary position
Hours: full time 5 out of 7 on a rota basis between the hours of 9am-10pm, Monday to Sunday.
Pay: £10-£12ph with time and a half on weekends!
Main Duties/Responsibilities
* Prepare vegetables, meats and fish with guidance from senior chefs
* Ensure ingredients and preparation is ready for service for more senior Chefs
* Measure/weigh dish ingredients and portion sizes accurately
* Deal with deliveries and stock rotation
* Assist other section chefs during service
* Cook and prepare elements of high-quality dishes with guidance
* Help with deliveries and restocking
* Contribute to maintaining kitchen and food safety standards
* Cleaning stations and kitchen equipment throughout the day and at the end of service
Qualifications/Licences/Certifications
Essential
* Experience in preparing food and assisting senior Chefs and
* Experience working well in a team and communicating with the other members of staff
* Basic cooking skills
* Food Hygiene Level One
* Level 1 and 2 Food Safety Awards
* Minimum 6 months relevant experience
* Awareness of manual handling techniques
* Awareness of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) and chemical safety
* Experience of kitchen equipment
* Experience of dangerous equipment such as knives
* Competent level of English spoken and written
Desired
* Food Hygiene Level Two
* City & Guilds 706/1 Catering
* NVQ Level 1
* Level 2 Health and Safety in the Workplace Award
* Level 3 Food Safety Awards
* NVQ or SVQ in food preparation and cooking
* 14-19 Hospitality & Catering diploma
* BTEC HND in professional cookery
* A foundation degree in culinary arts
