Our Role
Our Clients Corporate Affairs team is responsible for protecting and enhancing the reputation of the business through effective communications.  We currently have an opening for a Media Manager (Group) and are looking for an experienced media relations professional ready for their next challenge.  This is a key role working with the Head of Media to managing communications on behalf of our client.  Working both proactively and reactively, the role involves managing some of the most high profile projects and issues affecting the business and the energy industry. 
Acting as a key contact for external media, you will proactively create and drive strong relationships to effectively influence and communicate the companys position.  This will involve being able to identify opportunities to positively influence key stakeholders to achieve sustainable business outcomes as well as the ability to recognise any reputational risks and create appropriate communication handling plans.
You will need to be able to juggle multiple conflicting priorities and work across different teams and departments. The role also involves providing out of hours cover for media enquiries on a rota basis and acting as a media spokesperson for the group where necessary. 
Your Skills and Experience
Your key deliverable will be first class proactive and reactive communications which support the delivery of SSE's strategic objectives; therefore strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to utilise media relations will be key to your success as well as a solid grasp of digital communications and issues management.
You will have previous communications experience, a strong understanding of the media environment as well as the gravitas and ability to gain the trust of senior leaders. Flexibility and the ability to deliver high quality work in a demanding environment whilst maintaining accuracy is also crucial.
With responsibility for creating and updating content for the websites and social media channels, you will have first class verbal and written communications skills and will be skilled at taking complex information and communicating it in a straightforward and engaging manner.
Managing a number of communication projects for the business, you will have the autonomy to make decisions and recommendations on how to progress or resolve issues.
Knowledge of the UK's political and regulatory landscape would be hugely beneficial.
