Laundry Operator  
  
Hours:                 37.5 hours per week 
                           Initially 6.30-2.30pm & 1.30-9.30pm alternating shift.
                           Night shift is currently being considered to meet demand. 
 
Contract:             Permanent
Location:             Bedford
Salary:                Start rate  - £15,268.50 (£7.83/hr) + Productivity Bonus if monthly targets are met.
                           1st April - £16009.50  (£8.21/hr) +                               "
 
April 2019- Other applicable rates
On successful completion of an Induction Program the rate will rise £8.546/hr
Further progression to a 'Multi Skilled' operator will attract a hourly
rate £8.766/hr
                              *all rates above attract a productivity bonus if targets are met.
                 
This is routine manual work in the operation of laundering work wear. Work involves a variety of miscellaneous tasks to ensure that soiled laundry will be cleaned and returned in a sanitary condition. The working environment is clean and warm.
 
Laundry workers operate large industrial machines to wash and dry garments. When the garments arrive in the laundry they are sorted according to soiled condition fabric and cleaning treatment and then marked for the appropriate machined programmed washes.   Cleaned items are then dried using tumble driers. Dried laundry is then folded and placed on Packing trolleys ready for the next process. Other duties including Packing , Goods In and Picking Orders.
 
Laundry workers are expected to carry out basic maintenance work on the machines, loading and unloading of chemical drums when they need to be replaced.

The ability to work methodically and follow instructions and written procedures.
Good timekeeping skills
The ability to count and measure accurately.
