The role:

Blue Arrow Derby are looking for a bubbly out going Catering Supervisor to support our client within the Pride Park area of Derby. Do you have previous experience of working within a large contract catering environment? Do you have previous experience in managing teams and busy shifts?

As this is a customer facing role, this particular client is looking for an experienced catering supervisor who can deliver a great customer experience. You will be working on a temporary ongoing basis. Your main responsibilities will be preparing and serving food, supervising and managing team members, serving customers in there on site staff canteen areas, helping and supporting with other duties i.e. pot washing, and clearing tables in the restaurant areas.  

This position is available to start immediately. Shift times will be varied including evenings and weekends. For the right candidate this can offer a temporary to permanent placement. This role will offer a minimum of 37.5 hours a week.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling & chopping
  • Serving customers with the highest of standards
  • Capability to work accurately with figures - cash handling, use of EPOS and reconciliation.
  • To ensure excellent standards and service
  • cook and plate food according to agreed recipes and standards of excellence
  • The ability to supervise the service of food, ensuring consistency throughout a fluctuating service on a day to day basis
  • Management of health, safety and security of the workplace. Excellent Communication Skills -  liaising with the Lead Chef, Manager and team to ensure a professional service is provided at all times
  • Stock management of food and beverages skills.
  • Adequate kitchen skills with confidence to cover weekend service in rotation with the chef's.
  • Minimising wastage
  • Assisting the head chef

Skills & essential requirements: 

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Vibrant, bubbly and outgoing character

  • Great personality as it is a customer facing role
  • Takes pride in the accuracy of their work
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Level 1 food safety and health and hygiene preferred however we can offer this.
  • Previous experience as a food service assistant within a large contract catering site, and cash handling and operation of a the till
  • Able to work under pressure and remain calm
  • A genuine passion for great hospitality and customer service
  • Flair for presentation, counter setup and display of product
  • Capacity to keep calm under pressure in a busy work environment
  • Is reliable, highly motivated, a team player, can lead others effectively and has a friendly disposition
  • Able to work on own initiative.
  • Effective problem solving with positive outlook.
  • Ability to plan ahead and anticipate changes to service or staff requirements.
  • Experience in a busy catering environment.
  • Evening and Weekend availability
