The role:

Blue Arrow Derby are looking for a skilled Chef to support our client within the Willington Area of Derby. Do you have previous experience of working within a contract catering environment? Are you looking for a better work life balance? How does working Monday to Friday day time shifts sound?

This particular client is looking for a Chef to work in their brand new staff restaurant on a temporary ongoing basis, to help support the head chef with the day to day running of the restaurant. Your main responsibilities will be preparing and serving a fresh Deli bar and one hot option for up to 150 staff members daily. This is the perfect opportunity if you are just starting out in the catering world and want to develop further.

This position is available to start immediately. Shift times will be from 7am till 3.30pm Monday to Friday with weekends off! A full UK driving license is preferred however there is transport links nearby.

For the right candidate this can offer a temporary to permanent placement, or a straight permanent role. This role will offer 40 hours a week, day time shifts, over time paid at time and a half, bank holidays and weekends off.

  • The ideal candidate must be able to drive and have access to their own vehicle, however there is public transport links available.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling & chopping
  • Baking fresh cakes
  • Working with fresh ingredients
  • Preparation of breakfast products
  • To ensure excellent standards and service
  • Maintain fridges and other food storage areas, monitoring and recording temperatures 
  • Cook and plate food according to agreed recipes and standards of excellence
  • Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers in a safe manner & ensuring correctness of temperatures. 
  • Minimising wastage
  • Set-up and break down work station, washing and disinfecting kitchen area, tables, tools, knives, and equipment. 
  • Assisting the head chef
  • Work with the Head chef on matters that relate to the product and service of the food.
