We are actively looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and highly driven individual to join our clients Engineering team based in Swansea.

The Production Engineer acts as the bridge between production, customers, suppliers and sub-contractors. He/she will provide technical advice, obtain and prepare costs for quotations, prepare capacity and schedule information to assist customers in achieving their product requirements and to achieve deadlines in terms of NPI and key launch. Topics will include all aspects of progression press tool development and design, from initial quotations through to tooling approval and bringing the product to life.

The successful candidate will need to possess excellent communication skills, verbal and written, be computer literate and have a sound engineering background. Commercial awareness and an ability to keep a level head under pressure is also important. The successful candidate is expected to have worked within either a project or production engineering environment for at least 5 years. Ideally their background will be in manufacturing engineering operating within both a toolmaking and press tool environment.

Experience should include component & tooling feasibility, tool design and construction and tool maturation through to approval.

3 years minimum 2D CAD experience in AutoCAD or DraftSight is essential.

The right candidate should also be proficient in Microsoft Office.

Knowledge of quality systems, APQP, PPAP, FMEA and IATF16949 would be essential.

Creation of I.S.I.R's and support PPAP construction,

Create and maintain Manufacture & Process drawings.

The role, although primarily factory/office-based, will also regularly involve external visits to other group companies, suppliers and our customers.

 Essential Experience / Qualities
  • Sound manufacturing or engineering background
  • Solid knowledge of Progression Press tools, Bihler Tools, and 2nd Operation tools
  • Excellent computer literacy
  • Good team worker
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent timekeeping and reliability
  • Able to work under pressure and to tight deadline

The standard hours of work are 7:45 am to 4.45 pm, Monday to Thursday and 7.45am - 12.45pm Friday. Additional hours are expected from time to time to fulfil project requirements. You will need to work closely with our APQP Coordinator and are expected to provide minimal cover during holiday and absence.
