Skilled Aircraft Fitter

Skilled training rate (first 12 weeks): £20,514 per annum pro rata

Skilled full annual salary: £29,307 per annum plus shift allowance

Are you a qualified Aircraft Fitter? We're looking for employed Skilled Aircraft Fitters to work on-site at the largest aerospace company in Europe at their Broughton site near Chester. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a fast-paced and dynamic production line working as part of the team responsible elite aircraft wing assemblies.

Full training and flexibility

If you have completed an engineering or aerospace apprenticeship (or military equivalent) and have prior experience as a fully trained Aircraft Fitter, this is a rare chance to develop your career. Working with an international aerospace pioneer, you'll benefit from the very best working conditions, colleagues, support and training.

On joining, you'll undergo a full 12 week training programme and your salary will rise to £29,307 on completion of the training period. Flexibility is key and overtime is available and required. Working 35 hours per week across various shifts, you'll also get an extra 20-30% on your hourly rate depending on shift pattern.

The role:

Working as a Skilled Aircraft Fitter, in a wing build production environment, your general tasks will include:


  • Assembly and installation of components or assemblies, and functional testing/trouble shooting of aircraft systems.
  • General fitting and assembly of aircraft components, including repair of metallic and composite materials.

You'll need to have:


  • A recognised apprenticeship in an engineering field (Indenture or Modern Apprenticeship Certificate with NVQ Level 2, 3 & Key Skills level 2) and be qualified to City & Guilds Level 2 or BTEC ONC within a recognised engineering field.
  • Knowledge of structural and mechanical equipment and the ability to follow technical drawings and manuals, while adhering to quality principles.
  • Ability to work alone or in a team environment.
  • Aptitude for continuous improvement.
  • High regard for Health & Safety, ensuring that all tasks are carried out in accordance with risk assessments and PPE assessments.

As you will be fitting aircraft wings, the job requires physical flexibility and lots of movement between the various working environments. You'll have to be happy operating at heights and in confined spaces (you will need to be able to gain access to confined spaces via elliptical access hole with maximum dimensions of 46.5cm by 26.5cm).

You'll possess all the skills needed to get the job done: a self-motivator and good communicator with strong attention to detail, outstanding decision-making skills and high-levels of professional competency.
