<h2>Joiner </h2>Contract: Temporary, ongoing from February to May 2026 (possible extension for the right candidate)Location: Keele - Newcastle-under-Lyme, ST5Pay: £22.00 per hour, paid weeklyHours: Full-time - Monday to Thursday 08:30-16:45, Friday 08:30-16:30 Blue Arrow is seeking experienced joiners to carry out repairs, adjustments and fitting work on fire doors across a site in Keele, as well as supporting general maintenance tasks within the site. You will be contributing to essential improvements across their facilities and collaborating with other trades on-site to complete scheduled works. Key Duties &amp; ResponsibilitiesYou will deliver a wide range of maintenance, repair and planned improvement tasks across the University estate, with a strong focus on multi-skilled workmanship, including:<ul><li>Fitting and replacing door hinges</li><li>Installing intumescent strips</li><li>Adjusting fire doors to ensure correct sealing</li><li>Installing drop-down seals</li><li>Replacing door handles</li><li>General carpentry and joinery</li><li>Basic locksmith duties</li><li>Changing door closers</li><li>Working in line with Health &amp; Safety legislation, including preparing work areas and using required PPE</li><li>Ensuring tools and equipment are safely used, maintained and stored</li><li>Completing Risk Assessments, permits and checking registers (e.g., Asbestos)</li><li>Coordinating with the stores team to obtain correct materials</li><li>Responding to urgent repairs, including those outside standard hours, using University vehicles as needed</li><li>Carrying out tasks in confined spaces, at heights, or in adverse weather conditions</li><li>Delivering excellent customer service within established KPIs</li><li>Assisting with vehicle upkeep used for work activities</li><li>Taking on additional tasks within competence when required</li><li>Supporting colleagues with general labouring and cleaning duties</li><li>Setting up access equipment and working from mobile platforms</li></ul> What We're Looking ForIdeal candidates will:<ul><li>Be reliable, hardworking and confident working outdoors when required</li><li>Have their own tools</li><li>Communicate clearly and follow instructions effectively</li><li>Maintain excellent timekeeping and daily attendance</li><li>Be able to perform physically demanding tasks</li><li>Be flexible and comfortable taking on varied duties as needed</li></ul> Essential Requirements<ul><li>Safety boots and PPE</li><li>Woodwork machinery qualification (PUWER compliant)</li><li>Significant and relevant post-qualification experience</li><li>Experience in 1st and 2nd fix joinery</li><li>Knowledge of bench machinery</li><li>Ability to read and interpret construction drawings</li><li>Proven background working as a Joiner</li><li>Ability to work independently when required</li><li>Participation in a 24/7 call-out rota, including fault finding, making safe and conducting repairs</li></ul><h2> </h2>Benefits<ul><li>Dedicated consultant support</li><li>Weekly pay</li><li>Paperless timesheets (clock in/out via our app)</li><li>Holiday pay and accrual</li><li>Day shifts only</li><li>Monday-Friday schedule</li><li>Minimum 2 months ongoing full-time work, with potential to extend</li><li>Immediate starts available</li><li>Christmas and New Year period off</li></ul>Blue Arrow is proud to be a Disability Confident Employer and is committed to helping find great work opportunities for great people.
