Struggling pubs to be given a life line by Tom Kerridge and BBC2

A new (currently unnamed) BBC2 series will be following Tom Kerridge as he attempts to help struggling pubs who are on the verge of closure. 

A casting call has been put out for the show urging struggling pubs to come forward and apply to take part and be in with the chance of working alongside Tom Kerridge and the local community to help save their much-loved pub from closing its doors for good. 

If you are a Chef in a pub that you feel would benefit why not encourage the owners to give it a shot and apply for the show.

Female Chefs dominate the list in the Julia Child Scholarship finalists

The recent semi-final of the Julia Child Scholarship, Le Cordon Bleu saw 15 finalists going through to the finals with a staggering 14 of them being women.

The finals will take place at the institute in Bloomsbury Square on 16th September where the finalists (plus one additional finalist chosen by the public) will compete to take home the grand prize worth of £40,000 presented by Le Cordon Bleu alumna, Mary Berry.

Do you know someone worthy of the title ‘Kitchen Porter of the Year’?

As the deadline for the 2019 Kitchen Porter of the Year award approaches now is the time for you to nominate someone you deem worthy of the title. 

Now in its seventh year, the award organised by The Caterer and warewash specialist Winterhalter attracts hundreds of entries from across the country. 

The award originally launched in 2013 to recognise Kitchen Porters working in restaurants, pubs, schools, contract catering and hotels. 

The prize package includes the KP of the Year trophy, a piece of Winterhalter kit worth up to £8,000 for the KP’s employer and £1,000 cash plus a celebratory meal with friends.
