Blue Arrow sponsors St Albans Rugby Football Club

Blue Arrow, the national recruitment group with offices throughout the UK, has proudly displayed it’s parochial side by sponsoring the St Albans Rugby Football Club. With a strong branch in the heart of St Albans, actively serving the needs of both local firms and job seekers, Blue Arrow is giving something back to the neighbourhood it supports.
Stuart McBride, CEO of Blue Arrow Group is delighted to be sponsoring the rugby club. “It’s a gesture of support for the local community, St Albans RFC in particular, and two of our outstanding employees, Martin Alderton and Brent Lemiere, who are members of the club.”
Martin Alderton, IT Operations Team Leader for Blue Arrow, and Centre for the London North West 3 Division, says the club relies on the generosity of sponsors and the club’s car boot sales over the summer to keep the club going. “Without sponsors we wouldn’t have this fantastic club, or the great social and recreational aspects it offers,” said Alderton.
St Albans RFC became known as the ‘People’s Club’ after it was established by solicitor Peter Baines in 1970 when he couldn’t join two closed rugby clubs in the St Albans area. He said at the time that he wanted ‘to give the ordinary people of the city the opportunity to play Rugby Union’.
This sense of community is something Blue Arrow feels very strongly about, and is happy to see that Baines’ dream is still going strong.
The club’s three teams were victorious in the first round on Saturday and are aiming to replicate those victories over the next 21 games of the season.
St Albans’ were Pilkington Shield finalists at Twickenham back in 1995, and are hoping a new breed of players can make Twickenham in 2009.
