They refer to on-the-job training, which lead to national recognised qualifications for 16 to 24 year olds. The National Apprenticeship Service supports, funds and co-ordinates the delivery of Apprenticeships throughout the UK.
The qualification that Blue Arrow currently employs Apprentices under is a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 in Business and Administration and the Apprentice works through 25 modules over 12 to 15 months. Our Apprentices are employed on a fixed contract for this duration.

Most of the training is ‘on-the-job’ at our premises, the rest is provided by the local college. Generally the Apprentice spends 4 days in the office gaining practical experience and 1 day at college. The day that they spend at college is flexible to fit in with the business needs.

To get something out of recruiting an Apprentice, we put in the time and effort to develop the young person.
Although times are tough, we play a part in developing young talent into business. We can give young people leaving school a chance to develop new skills and experiences that not only benefit them but also our organisation.
Apprenticeships ensure that our workforce has the practical skills and qualifications our organisation needs now and in the future. The mixture of on and off job learning ensures they learn the skills that work best for our business. Over 130,000 companies offer Apprentice places because they understand the benefits that Apprentices bring to their business – increased productivity, improved competitiveness and a committed and competent work-force.
Blue Arrow has an opportunity to show our commitment to developing new talent to help our business and the recruitment industry grow.
